The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People review

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People review - Author Stephen R Covey

So far this book written by Stephen R Covey has sold over 15million copies.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is a wonderful book that can change your life if you let it.

This book is different to the other Career Change Books that I have reviewed as it is more of a Career Success Manual.

The key to this book is in the title it is all about Habits.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is split into 4 parts, Parts 2,3, and 4 are divided into habits

Part 1 - Paradigms and principles

  • Inside-out
  • The seven habits an overview
(Paradigms definition - One that serves as a pattern or model.)

Part 2 - Private Victory
  • Habit 1 - Be proactive
  • Habit 2 - Begin with the end in mind
  • Habit 3 - Put first things first

Part 3 - Public Victory
  • Habit 4 - Think win/win
  • Habit 5 - Seek first to understand - Then to be understood
  • Habit 6 - Synergize

Part 4 - Renewal
  • Habit 7 - Sharpen the saw

Stephen R Covey basically gives you a recipe for success but only if you work on the 7 habits

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People will teach you so much and does provide a brilliant lesson on how to achieve what you want out of life and how to get the most out of life.

This will help you answer some of the questions you have if you are looking for a career change.

There is a really interesting section on time management and how to plan your time on a daily basis.

Stephen R Covey has supplied some excellent time management templates in this book for you to use.

His advice is to plot your to-do list in a four quadrant table :

  1. Important and due soon
  2. Important and due later
  3. Unimportant and due soon
  4. Unimportant and due later

Plot everything you have to do in this order and
ensure that you carry out tasks in numerical order.

This means you'll always do what is important to you first!

The advice in this book does apply to everyone.

If it is life coaching you are after, and you need help with your career change then The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People maybe a good starting point.

I hope you found The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People review helpful.
