Positive Mental Attitude is Critical For Your Job Search

Why  Positive Mental Attitude is Critical for Your Job Search?

Starting a Career or job search for whatever reason can be a daunting prospect.

Particularly so if you are feeling down, or lacking in confidence, or feel that due to circumstances out of your control; that maybe there are no jobs available.

However this mental attitude will get you NOWHERE!

The career and job search tactics covered on this site look at tapping into the UNADVERTISED JOBS market, which make up approximately 60% of the total jobs market.

A massive chunk that you don't want to miss out on.

This tends to be where the best jobs are, and the least competition!

However, it does take a certain amount of effort, FAITH and PERSISTANCE
on your part to tap into this market.

You MUST have faith and believe, that you have the ability; and that coupled with persistant action you WILL find what your looking for.

I realise this is easy for me to say that you must have a positive mental attitude, and that it’s really irritating to be told to “think positive” or “be confident” if you feel you have nothing to be positive and confident about.

But I do beleive it's important to use all your job search options, and for your search to be pin point accurate; aimed on a role that you will love, rather than any old job.

So Why  else is Positive Mental Attitude so Critical for Your Job Search?

A positive mental attitude acts like a beacon, attracting "good things" to your positive light!

And when you get your chance (and you will) many employers veiw a positive attitude higher through the interview and assessment stages than having all the perfect answers.

The offer often goes to the person whom is “liked” the most above others who may have scored higher through the interview.

Positive Mental Attitude is Critical for Your Job Search - So how do you fire up your beacon of positive attitude if you feel $@&# ?

Even if circumstances and luck may all seem to be against you.

You have to FAKE it!

No one will hire you if you’re miserable and downbeat, or if you’re cynical, critical and angry.

Therefore copy the behaviour of positive people

  • Be respectful of others
  • Tolerant
  • Calm
  • Helpful
  • Happy and smiling
  • Point out things done well, not critical, or cynical
  • Try to find the positives or lessons learned from poor experiences
  • Show FAITH in your ability
  • Be PERSISTENT in your pursuit of goals.

The irony is that the more you fake it, the more positive you really become.

It’s impossible to persistently ACT in a way without slowly becoming it.

That’s why laughing and smiling therapies are becoming more popular; even if you don’t mean it at first the persistent act of laughing or smiling will improve your whole physiology.

If things are really low, turn to someone who has been through the same experience, or your faith.

I personally like to read, and found great inspiration from the classic book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. The “RICH” in the title does not have to mean MONEY; it can mean love, happiness, career, job, whatever you need.

You can download it for free.
