Job Interview Checklist
Job Interview Checklist – Your ticket to more JOB OFFERS!
This is really a list of principals I feel are VITAL to your interviewing success.
So here goes – my job interview checklist for success
- Reflect and research to gain a clear vision of what you’re looking for.
- Research beyond the job specification to gain crystal clear understanding of what your “target” employer is looking for.
- Research; to gain a crystal clear understanding of your strengths and weakness, as they apply to your TARGET employer.
- Prepare how to COMPENSATE for your weaknesses or gaps in CRITICAL experience or skills.
- Assemble COMPELLING marketing materials (letters, resume or CV, brag book, testimonials, articles, OBJECTIVE Statement).
- Learn and master a technique for answering interview questions. Example STAR Method.
- Learn a technique for ASKING intelligent questions.
- Learn positive body language (the old adage “it’s not what you say but how you say it” definitely holds true).
- Don’t dismiss the power of NETWORKING. The other old adage “it’s not what you know but WHO you know” is also super powerful.
- Use a plan or strategy to harness all of the above.
I promise, if you take the job interview checklist points seriously you’ll be in the top 2% of all interviewees, and your offers to interviews attended will go through the roof!
Points 1 & 2 often get quite a lot of push back from people who feel these points are too obvious for serious consideration. I personally also spent far too long in my early life in jobs I didn’t really enjoy.
I’ve also worked for many clients that though they’ve produced a job specification, are FAR from clear over the type of person they “really” want to hire.
And though it seems unfair to shoulder YOU the job seeker with the responsibility of helping your target employer clarify THEIR thinking. I guarantee this will be worth your effort.
Fortunately there are many great resources, many of which are free, that address all of the above points in interview acing detail.
The materials I refer to harness the power of human psychology, proven marketing techniques, and the rapidly changing technology that’s so helpful for career developers…
